Now that you mention it, the term “homecoming” makes no sense.

For those outside of the states, this is a high school tradition in which the cool kids get even more attention than usual, and are crowned homecoming king and queen. But wait, I thought Americans hated having a king? Yes, we still do, and look forward to the day when the king is the fat bald guy talking about the glory days....

Dearborn makes a huge production out of “homecoming” every year with a big parade and other such nonsense.  I don’t get it. I didn’t care one bit about homecoming when I was in high school, and I don’t get why some people think is should give one watery shit about it now.  Kids get their asses kissed enough as it is.

Wow,  I know that field, that’s my high school and I’m still living like 3 miles away. I was in marching band in that field years ago.

Here’s what you find out when you go back to your alma mater during homecoming:

1 . Homecoming is mainly for alumni, and the school administration just make it a celebration with the students so it looks better. That became a tradition.

2. The cool kids didn’t hang out together because they thought less of everyone else: they were actually antisocial and afraid to hang out with anyone but their crew.

3. It’s fun to go back for your homecoming reunions, because most people have grown up and aren’t immature little asshats like they were in HS (except for some of the antisocial popular kids, and that’s fine).
